Obeying God Doesn’t Always Feel Good, But Thankfully, It’s Worth It.

...I used to think obedience would always feel peaceful. As if, once I said “yes” to God, everything would make sense and fall into place.
But the truth?
Obeying God doesn’t always feel good.
Sometimes it feels like letting go of something you prayed for.
Something you built.
Something you invested everything into.
“But I’ve put too much into this…”
I remember holding on to something that God clearly told me to release. And I kept making excuses:
“But I’ve spent years on this.”
“But I’ve already sacrificed so much.”
“What if I’m just being emotional?”
“Maybe God will change His mind…”
The truth is, I wasn’t confused — I was just delaying obedience.
I wanted God's will, but I wanted it to agree with mine.
When God Calls You to Let Go

God reminded me of the story of Abraham and Isaac (Genesis 22).
Abraham waited decades for Isaac, his promised son.
Then God tested him and said:
“Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love… and offer him.”—Genesis 22:2 (NKJV)
That makes no sense.
But Abraham didn’t argue. He didn’t say, “But Lord, this is the promise You gave me!”
He got up early the next morning and obeyed.
And here’s the part I hold on to:
“Because you have done this thing… I will bless you…”—Genesis 22:16–17 (NKJV)
Obedience — even painful obedience — opens the door to blessings.
It Might Feel Like A Loss Now
You may be walking away from a relationship, a business, a habit, or a dream that you really wanted to work out.
But I’ve learned:
What feels like the end is usually a beginning in God’s hands.
“No one who has left house or brothers or sisters… for My sake and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time…”—Mark 10:29–30 (NKJV)
If You're Wrestling Right Now…
If you're trying to hold on and talk yourself out of obedience—I see you.
I’ve been you.
You might be:
Saying “but I’ve come too far”
Afraid of starting over
Wondering if you're making a mistake
Wishing God would just let you keep what you have
But listen… obedience isn’t about comfort. It’s about trust.
Sometimes God Will Ask for What You Thought You Needed
Sometimes God will call you to let go of the very thing you prayed for…
The thing you begged Him to bless.
The relationship you thought would last forever.
The career you worked so hard to build.
And somehow, He tells you, “That’s not it.”
Not because He’s cruel.
Not because He’s playing games.
But because He knows what you don’t — and He loves you enough not to let you settle.
Maybe you’re there now.
Maybe He’s nudging you to let go of a relationship that feels safe but isn’t His best.
Maybe it’s a job you gave years of your life to — and now He’s leading you into the unknown.
Maybe it’s a version of your life you worked hard for… but He’s calling you higher.
How Do You Respond?
That’s the question we all come back to.
Do you obey, even when it hurts?
Do you trust Him, even when it’s unclear?
Do you release what you thought was the plan, to step into something you can’t yet see?
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”—2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)
It’s not easy.
But it’s worth it.
Because God never removes something without the intention of replacing it with something better — even if it’s simply more of Him.
Your Obedience Matters
Even if no one else claps for your “yes,” Heaven does.
Even if no one else sees what it cost you, God does.
So if your heart is heavy today...
If you're walking away from something that once meant everything to you...
If you're wrestling between holding on and letting go…
Let this be a reminder:
Obeying God doesn’t always feel good, but thankfully, it’s worth it.
And you're not alone.
If obedience has you in tears… if it’s stretching you beyond what you thought you could handle…
Hold on. Don’t quit.
God is doing something deep, something eternal, something good.
And when it’s all said and done, you’ll be able to say with full confidence:
“It was worth it.”
